Municipal Election 2006

During the 2006 municipal election I made it clear that the present city council would have to raise taxes a minimum 5% if they continued on their un abatted spending spree. The David Miller/ Joe Pantalone team however promised that they would not raise taxes higher than the "cost of living/inflation rate" or 1.2%.Well it seems taxes have risen at a rate of 4% and extra user fees have been implemented that were never even mentioned in the last election.

Land transfer fees, surcharge fees on car owners and higher permit parking fees have become the norm in an attempt to raise more funds to try and feed the spending. Instead of the promised "good financials" promised during the election, we have a huge financial problem at city hall.

It was difficult however to understand how we the people have put up with this type of representation for so long.I ran in an attempt to try and bring back responsible government. I enjoyed meeting everybody in the ward during the election and I continue to make our government accountable to the people.

Here I am at the one debate that was held in the ward.It was quite an introduction and I felt totally at ease.

Two brave soldiers. Before they left to Afghanistan.
